On Sunday, Dec. 11, the Student Activity Center was filled with different guests than the usual. Instead of basketball practices or runway shows, the annual Silver Lining Blood Drive was going full force. Parents, faculty, staff, and student volunteers were all present, working hard to help the greater Charlottesville community this holiday season.
"I've volunteered here for the last couple years. There are so many people in our School and Charlottesville community who are affected by giving blood. I think it's so important to help out as much as you can, especially during the holidays," said Jack Pausic '18, a lead student volunteer.
The drive was hosted by alumni parent Lee Silver with support from current parent Lucy Koch and the Athletic Boosters. In addition to blood donations, the event also featured crafts, games, a photo booth, homemade baked goods, and more for the participants and their families to enjoy while helping the cause.
If you were unable to participate in the drive, you can still donate at any Virginia Blood Services facility using the Silver Lining Blood Drive code 8825 so that your units are included in the blood drive count. Donations should take less than an hour, and would make a great new tradition to kick off the new year.
