School Celebrates Festival of Lessons & Carols

St. Anne's-Belfield School's annual Festival of Lessons & Carols took place on Dec. 15, giving the community a chance to celebrate together and usher in the School's Winter Break.

Based on the traditional Kings College, Cambridge service, this year's Lessons & Carols featured Learning Village physical education teacher and Boys' Basketball coach Brian Kent offering the Bidding Prayer followed by nine holiday lessons read by students. Branch Ellis represented the second grade, and was followed by Catriona Shuve (third grade), Pedro Katz-Melo (fourth grade), Spicer Edmonds (sixth grade), Alexa Verghese (seventh grade), Ellie DuPuis (eighth grade), Sallie Vick (tenth grade), Jovia Winkey (eleventh grade), and Evan Swett (twelfth grade). Mr. Robert Clark, director of religious life, offered the Benediction.

A variety of School musical groups were featured throughout the event, including the Philharmonic Strings (Greensleaves and Carol of the Bells/God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen); the Fourth Grade Choir (The Friendly Beasts), Saintly Voices (Starry Night of Winter), and the Upper School Concert Choir (Break Forth O Beauteous Heavenly Light).

Following the festival, the School's Legacy families, or those in which students of alumni now attend the School, gathered for their traditional photos. These photographs will be available following the Winter Break.

Photographs from this year's Lessons & Carols are now available on the School SmugMug account.
