On May 23, Learning Village students in Mr. Kent's flag football SKOLA class took to the field to compete in a light-hearted game with the School's Varsity and Junior Varsity football teams.
In addition to providing a wonderful chance for younger students to interact with older students, the game also helped one freshman, Isabella Franks, kick off a service project in support of Waterboys, a signature initiative of alumnus and NFL defensive end Chris Long '04.
Frank's #VarsityWater social media campaign is just the start of what she hopes will become a nationwide student effort to support clean water and wells in Africa.
"If every student in America donated just one dollar, it would be around twenty-four million dollars, which makes so many wells and is a great thing," Franks told a Newsplex reporter prior to the game.
NFL Hall of Famer Howie Long was present for the coin toss of the game, which brought out School community members from all divisions for an entertaining afternoon and saw one lucky raffle winner head home with a signed Chris Long jersey.
Photos from the event are now available on the School's SmugMug account.
