11 Area Schools Represented at Girls on the Run 5K

St. Anne's-Belfield School hosted the fifth Charlottesville Girls on the Run Celebration 5K on Saturday, Nov. 11. Almost 350 girls, parents, friends, and volunteer running buddies from 11 area schools came together to celebrate a successful fall season.

Begun in 1996 in Charlotte, North Carolina, Girls on the Run is now a national 501(c)3 non-profit organization with councils in all 50 states. The 5K training curriculum includes life lessons to inspire independent thinking, creative problem-solving, and overall wellness.

More than 350 end-of-season celebrations are routinely held across the country, making the Girls on the Run 5K series the largest in the United States.
