Session 2: Jan. 31 - March 4

SAS Class was so much fun, we can't wait to do it again! Session 2 of our popular five-week enrichment program begins soon. An add on to our normal Saints After School (SAS) programming, SAS Class runs one day a week from Jan. 31 - March 4 and costs $85 per session per child.

If this is your first time picking up knitting needles, you are welcome here! We will be learning the basics of knit stitch, casting on and casting off as well as finger knitting and other yarn crafts. Everyone will work to complete a project that suits their skills and abilities. Knitting is social, relaxing and a workout for your brain!

3D Printing 101

Welcome to the world of 3D Printing! In this SAS Class, students will learn the basics of how to design and print their own creations in 3D. We’ll start with basic shape design and move into more intermediate design principles. Students will be delighted as they bring their work from 3D designs on a computer to physical objects they can take home and show to their friends and family!

Forest Explorers

Come explore the great outdoors with Mrs. Bennett! As we hike on the trails surrounding the Learning Village, students will learn to identify different plants and animals, show respect to Mother Nature, and appreciate the beautiful, natural world around them. Students may get muddy, but that’s how you’ll know they’ve had fun!

Salsa Dancing

Get your dance shoes ready and hop on the dance floor with Mr. Atemo! You will learn the basic steps and turns of salsa dancing and be introduced to a variety of Latin music. You will get to dance a lot while making new friends and exercising. We will practice some steps on our own and others with a partner. As we learn, we will create a dance choreography along the way that we can share with our friends and family at the end! I look forward to seeing you on the dance floor.

Chess

It is time to learn how to play chess! Join Mrs. Mathieson as we go over moves, rules and strategies. Each class will begin with learning a new strategy and then plenty of time to practice before we wrap up the class with a tournament style game. As a club-style SAS Class, all levels are welcome.

Saber Light Apprentices

Have you ever wanted to learn the art of wielding a lightsaber? Join me, Mr. Gulotta, to ignite that dream! Saber Light Knights lead instructor Courtney Monroe will teach a seminar course instructing apprentices in the martial arts techniques and forms used in lightsaber combat. The program is fantastic and fun, involving games, formwork, exercise, and sparring. Plus, Master Monroe provides all the required equipment! May the Force be with you, aspiring apprentices.

Simply Scrappin'

This class provides students with an introduction to a hobby that will provide a lifetime of memories. An ideal activity for kids of all ages, scrapbooking is a fun project for younger ones who are just beginning to understand how to display memories and tell stories or older kids who are ready to add decorative touches and captions to their photo albums. Students will learn the basics of choosing photographs that have a prominent focal point as well as cropping techniques so that their mini paper photo albums will showcase memories well. Additionally, students will use many scrapbooking tools including personal trimmers, shape makers, tape runners, etc., to complete a paper album project. Please note: Students will need 10-15 photos showcasing one memory or event to use for their mini paper photo albums.

Think marbled paper, recycled paper beads, and more that we will transform into bracelets, necklaces, bookmarks and more all made by you!

Robotics

Do you have an interest in engineering, robotics or coding? In this SAS program we will use the  Lego robotics platform to design, build and program small-scale robots to complete a variety of tasks. In our final meeting we will be presented with a “challenge” to see how well our robots can perform.
