For more than 20 years Sarah Everett '82 has been a part of the St. Anne’s-Belfield School’s alumni leadership, this year stepping into the role of Alumni Association Board president.
“As a third generation legacy, I have always felt a strong connection to the School, said Everett. “Two of my five children have graduated from the School, and my youngest is a junior. Service on the board is one way I am able to give back.”
Everett’s giving back began just after college graduation, in fact, with a $10 donation to the School that resulted in a thank you letter that made her feel as though she had made a real difference. Shortly after she became involved as a volunteer, and has enjoyed the ability to merge her own interests with serving the School.
“The possibilities are endless,” she said. “We can find a way for you to engage, just define your passions. My most consistent engagement is through I.M.P.A.C.T., a faith-based club for teens that I started with Mr. Dodd. For years I shared my passion for photography through slide shows, archives, and sports action endeavors. On Friday nights I am able to teacher students in the Ski Club at Wintergreen. I actually started the Ski Club in 1980!”
Through the years Everett has seen changes at the School but she finds the sense of community to has remained the same core of the School.
“There are amazing things happening here,” she said. “New, exciting opportunities as well as traditions that are alive and well!”
