St. Anne's-Belfield School Collaborative Pianist

Performing Free Concert March 2

Charlottesville, Va., Feb. 11, 2019 - St. Anne's-Belfield School's collaborative pianist, Shelby Sender, will be representing the city of Charlottesville in Pleven, Bulgaria this March with University of Virginia faculty violinist Daniel Sender. With the support of the Charlottesville Sister Cities Commission (CSCC), the duo will present a concert and masterclass at the National School of the Arts "Panayot Pipkov" as part of their National Competition festival weekend. 

 

Pleven is one of Charlottesville's international sister cities, situated 100 miles north of Bulgaria's capital city, Sofia. These events represent the CSCC's first artistic venture to Pleven and aims to engage with a large number of students and residents in the historic Bulgarian city. Daniel and Shelby Sender will be offering a diverse program, including representative works from both the United States and Bulgaria:

 

Franz Schubert: Sonata No.2 in A minor, D.385
Aaron Copland: Sonata for Violin and Piano
Lubomir Pipkov: Sonata for Violin and Piano No.1, Op.7
Pablo de Sarasate: Romanza Andaluza


A free preview concert will be presented at St. Anne's-Belfield School's Grisham Hall on Saturday, March 2 at 8:00 p.m

St. Anne's-Belfield School is a co-educational preschool through grade twelve day school of nearly 900 students and more than 150 faculty and staff, with a boarding program in grades nine through twelve.
