St. Anne's-Belfield Upper School Presenting Beauty and the Beast Feb. 22 - 24

Charlottesville, Va., Feb. 5, 2019 - Once upon a time, in a faraway land, a young prince lived in a shining castle. Although he had everything his heart desired, the prince was spoiled, selfish, and unkind. But then, one winter's night, an old beggar-woman came to the castle, and offered him a single rose in return for shelter from the bitter cold. Repulsed by her haggard appearance, the prince sneered at the gift and turned the old woman away. But she warned him not to be deceived by appearances, for beauty is found within…
 
Thus begins Disney's classic musical Beauty and the Beast, to be performed by St. Anne's-Belfield Upper School students and directed by Head of School David Lourie on Feb. 22 – 24. Tickets are now available online at www.stab.org/musical, with prices of $16.50 for adults and $11.50 for students. Limited tickets will also be available at the door. Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22 and Saturday, Feb. 23 and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24 at St. Anne's-Belfield School's Grisham Hall, located at 2132 Ivy Road.
 
This production is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI), with all authorized performance materials supplied by the same. Music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, and book by Linda Woolverton. The production was originally directed by Robert Jess Roth and produced by Disney Theatrical Productions.
