Silver Lining Blood Drive to Take Place at
St. Anne's-Belfield School on Sunday, Feb. 17

Charlottesville, Va., Jan. 17, 2019 - Mark your calendar, the next Silver Lining Blood Drive is on Feb. 17! This will be the first such blood drive with the American Red Cross following its purchase of Virginia Blood Services, and will take place in the St. Anne's-Belfield School Student Activities Center (2132 Ivy Road) from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Participants will be treated to delicious food from local vendors, select spa services, and of course fun and games for the whole family.

This year, donations of whole blood and double reds (now called power red) will be possible but there will be no access to platelet machines. Instead, platelet donors are encouraged to donate whole blood instead.

More than four million Americans require blood transfusions each year, with one pint of donated blood potentially saving up to three lives, and there is currently no substitute for human blood.

In preparation for their donation, donors are asked to eat well, stay hydrated, and arrive with proper identification. Using the American Red Cross scheduling system, available at www.redcrossblood.org with the sponsor code SilverLining, will ensure an appointment with minimal wait time.
Appointments are suggested but walk-ins are always welcome. Donor eligibility requirements are also detailed on the American Red Cross website.
