Virginia Independent Schools Football League (VISFL) Announces Inaugural All-State Selections

Charlottesville, Va., Dec. 7, 2018 - The Virginia Independent Schools Football League (VISFL) has announced it's 2018 All-State selections, including:

  • Offensive Player of the Year: Luke Sorenson, The Covenant School
  • Defensive Player of the Year: Nic Sanker, The Covenant School
  • Coach of the Year: Seth Wilson, The Covenant School


St. Anne's-Belfield School athletes selected include:

  • Amani Woods '21 (First & Second Team - Offense)
  • Will Edelson '19 (First Team - Offense & Defense)
  • Thomas Harry '19 (First Team - Offense, Second Team - Defense)
  • Joe Ambrosi '20 (First Team - Defense)
  • Gunni Horridge '19 (First Team - Defense)
  • Elijah Johnson '21 (Second Team - Offense)
  • Nolan Bruton '22 (Second Team - Offense)
  • Gabe Decker '21 (Second Team - Defense)

The VISFL is Virginia's first sanctioned "eight man" football league, begun in 2018 with seven independent school members: St. Anne's-Belfield School, Hampton Roads Academy, Greenbrier Christian Academy, Kenston Forest, Brunswick Academy, Virginia Episcopal School, and The Covenant School. All seven participating schools have made a two-year commitment to the league, and up to five additional schools have shown interest in joining in 2019.




St. Anne's-Belfield School is a co-educational preschool through grade twelve day school of nearly 900 students and more than 150 faculty and staff, with a boarding program in grades nine through twelve. Fifteen countries are represented in the student body, with 40 percent of students receiving financial aid. More information may be found at www.stab.org
