Girls' Varsity Basketball Wins 7th Consecutive LIS Title, Stinnie Honored as Coach of the Year

Congratulations to the Girls' Varsity Basketball team on winning their seventh consecutive League of Independent Schools (LIS) conference championship! With a final score of 68-50, and a 19-5 team record, the Saints took the title after defeating Collegiate School on Thursday, Feb. 20.

Kymora "Mo" Johnson '23 led the team with 22 points, earning her recognition as Player of the Year and a place on the LIS All-Conference Team alongside teammate Daija Bennett '21.

“I was really proud of us because we’re a really young team, but we came out focused and ready to play hard. It has prepared us well for states," Bennett said about the LIS championship game.

For the second year in a row, Head Coach Phil Stinnie was honored as a league Coach of the Year. This is Stinnie's 15th conference title in 18 years coaching the Saints. Stinnie is joined by assistant coaches Ladi Smith '09 and Kelsie Szabo.

The team's season continues as they set their sights on the VISAA state tournament in the coming weeks. The Feb. 18 VISAA DI state poll ranks the team third in the state. Check the Athletics Calendar for game times and updates.

Congrats and good luck, Saints!
