Kate R. '26 Wins Congressional App Challenge

Congratulations to Kate R. ’26 for winning the Congressional App Challenge for our congressional district, one of the most prestigious prizes in student computer science. She submitted Club Hub, which was made as part of our Honors Software Engineering class with Ms. McAvoy. Club Hub functions as a tool for student clubs to organize their meetings and activities. Kate’s winning app will be showcased at the U.S. Capitol and on House.Gov.

This year, Delegate Sam Rasoul has introduced a bill that would require the state Board of Education to develop an alternative path for students to get a high school degree without passing the SOLs. That program would, among other things, include civic engagement. A private school in Charlotteville that has made that a central part of its curriculum.
