Mr. John Blake, Director of Alumni Relations

John Blake
Director of Alumni Relations

John Blake is the director of alumni relations and head Varsity Football coach at St. Anne’s-Belfield School. He has previously served as a middle school physical education teacher, as director of buildings and grounds, and coach to an array of athletics teams.

John was raised in the Charlottesville area and attended PVCC and Concord University.

Ms. Nina Bowen, Development & Special Event Associate

As the development and special events associate, Nina Bowen works closely with the development team, parents, and alumni to assist with community outreach and event planning. Prior to joining the School community, Nina worked in guest services at Thomas Jefferson's Monticello and with the Fredericksburg Area Museum and Virginia Holocaust Museum.

Nina received her bachelor's in history and a minor in museum studies from the University of Mary Washington in 2015.

Mr. Warren Buford III, Associate Head of School for Advancement

Warren Buford is the associate head of school for advancement at St. Anne's Belfield School where he oversees external relations including development, alumni relations, communications and marketing, and admissions, and leads the School’s current comprehensive campaign. Before moving to the School in July 2013, Warren worked in senior development roles at the University of Virginia, serving as the executive director of the University of Virginia School of Architecture Foundation (2008 - 2013) and as associate vice president of major gifts for the School of Engineering Foundation (2006 - 2008).

Warren’s career in institutional advancement and educational program development has spanned nearly two decades and includes positions at the Children's Defense Fund in Washington, D.C. and Davidson College in North Carolina. He has served as vice president and philanthropy chair of the board of directors of the Albemarle Housing Improvement Program since 2010, and currently serves on the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Africa Advisory Committee.

Warren holds a B.A. in political science from Davidson College and an MPhil in political studies (transitional justice) from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. He served as a Rotary International Ambassadorial Fellow in Cape Town, has taught or guest lectured in secondary and higher education courses on social entrepreneurship and community development, and is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences.

Mrs. Kay Walker Butterfield, School Historian

School Historian

Kay Walker Butterfield is the St. Anne’s-Belfield School historian. She taught at the School for two decades beginning in 1962, including courses in religion and history. She has also served as a resident faculty member, and an advisor to a variety of School clubs and activities. In 2006 she moved from unofficial to official guardian of the School’s artifacts and history, creating and overseeing the Norfleet Archives and writing the School’s centennial history, Teach Them Diligently.

Kay is a graduate of Wellesley College.

Mr. Bruce Cauthen '74, Director of Leadership Giving

Director of Leadership Giving

Bruce Cauthen ’74 is the School’s director of leadership giving and also is an alumnus, having graduated with the first class of boys in 1974. He has more than 30 years’ experience in development, marketing, and advertising, primarily for nonprofit organizations in the Richmond area.

Bruce holds a bachelor’s degree from Washington and Lee University and a M.B.A. from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.

Ms. Maria Gall, Director of the Annual Fund

Director of the Annual Fund

Maria Gall is the St. Anne’s-Belfield School’s annual fund manager, a role in which she works with parent and alumni volunteers to encourage community support of the Annual Fund. Maria joined St. Anne's-Belfied in 2014 after serving as development director at the Music Resource Center of Charlottesville where she managed annual fund efforts and special events. Previously, she worked as an assistant director of reunions at the University of Virginia Alumni Association.

Maria graduated from the University of Virginia in 2006 with a B.A. in media studies.

Mrs. Leah Lindauer, Development Services Manager

Development Services Manager

As the development services manager, Leah Lindauer is responsible for gift processing, acknowledgment fulfillment, as well as managing the School's development database. Prior to joining St. Anne's-Belfield School, Leah worked at the Nature Conservancy as the major gifts manager for the Virginia Chapter.

Leah graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2010 with a Bachelor in Business Administration with an emphasis in finance.

Mr. Doug Tarring, Development & Alumni Relations Officer

Development & Alumni Relations Officer

Doug Tarring began his career at St. Anne's-Belfield School in 1973 in the Middle School. He served as the School's athletic director from 1980 - 2012, and was the Boys' Varsity Lacrosse coach from 1979 - 2009. He joined the Development team in the fall of 2012, and is now the Boys' Junior Varsity Lacrosse coach.

Doug received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia in 1972, and an M.Ed. from U.Va. in 1973.
