Kate Moga Johnson ’86 and her husband, Jeff, welcomed a son, Maxwell David Johnson, into their family on April 9, 2012.
Kirstan Hendricks Hattler ’91 and her husband, Rob, welcomed baby Emerson Eloise Hattler into the world on March 25, 2012. Emme weighed 7 pounds 4 ounces.

Liza Vaughan Coonse ’93 and Katy McCartney Gilliam ’93 are part of the Pink Pacers, a group from the Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill area dedicated to supporting active living, community outreach, and families affected by cancer. Liza and Katy’s “Get Heeled 5K” race raised over $75,000 in 2011 and is scheduled for October 13, 2012. The alumnae also volunteer for local events and raise awareness and funds for cancer. They ran the “Tar Heel 10 Miler” and are having a blast doing all of it together!

David Wang ’93 shares, “I started a new job at a Solar Panel company as its Web Developer. On April 15, I completed a San Diego Gran Fondo which is a 108-mile bicycle ride. Lastly and the most exciting, my wife and I are expecting a baby girl on August 26.”

Austin Cashman Hamlin ’97 and husband Rick Hamlin welcomed a little girl, Branch McLaurin Hamlin, into their family on December 21, 2011. Branch was 5 pounds, 11 ounces, and 19 inches at birth. Austin notes, “She is so incredibly sweet, and Rick and I are absolutely thrilled to have her in our lives.” The family lives in Richmond, where Austin is a senior trust administrator at Wells Fargo, and Rick is a history teacher and head coach for both Varsity Boys’ Basketball and Varsity Girls’ Soccer at his alma mater, Trinity Episcopal School.
Jennie Zunka Langley ’97 and Jimmy Zunka ’00 have both joined the law firm of Zunka, Milnor & Carter. After graduation, Jennie went to the University of Mary Washington, receiving her B.A., cum laude, in Sociology in 2002. She then earned her J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law in 2011 and will now practice in the areas of estate planning, business, and real estate. Jimmy, who will focus on civil litigation, earned his J.D., cum laude, from George Mason University School of Law in 2011. In 2004, he graduated from Washington and Lee University with a B.A, summa cum laude, in English.

Meggie Strickler Powers ’00 and her husband, Evan, welcomed a baby girl on December 4, 2011. Elizabeth ‘Eliza’ Belden Powers was 7 pounds, 5 ounces and 20.25 inches long.
Emily Bassett ’02 is pleased to announce her engagement to Josh Rector. Emily is a sales and account executive at SNL Energy, and Josh is senior vice president of Bromont Investments. The couple currently lives on their farm in Charlottesville, Virginia, and a wedding is planned for September.
A.J. Frey ’05 graduated from the Washington and Lee University School of Law on May 5, 2012. He and Chloe Hodson Frey ’05 are excited to be moving to New York in the fall, where A.J. will be an associate with the law firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges, LLP.
Brittany Fox '08 graduated from Sweet Briar College in May with a B.A. in English and Creative Writing. She was inducted into the Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society and plans to attend a Pre-Doctoral program for Literature at American University in the fall.
Tommy Carpenter ’09 has been offered an intensive ten-week fellowship at the Tanglewood Music Center, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. The fellows perform under internationally renowned conductors and interact with members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Tommy will also work with leaders in the music field such as Yo Yo Ma, Emmanuel Ax, and many more.
John Chambers ’09 was re-elected to the Student Senate at Hampden-Sydney College for the 2012-13 school year. John will be a senior in the fall and is studying economics.

Brett Goodloe ’09, April Pisano ’11, Kelly Sanders ’11, Quincey September ’09, and Bryan Stinnie ’09 joined John Blake, Director of Alumni Relations, at Crust in Williamsburg for the Young Alumni Visit to the College of William and Mary.

Phil Vavelidis ’09 surprised students on April 14 as he took the stage to perform at the Junior/Senior Prom.

Corinna Coffin ’11, Kimberly Dangelo ’09, Kendall Kalagher ’09, Thorne Michaels ’09, Claire Scrivani ’09, Matthew Sewell ’10, Tim Silver ’11, and Brandon Spitzer ’11 joined John Blake for dinner at the Young Alumni Visit to Virginia Tech.
