The St. Anne's-Belfield music department prides itself on offering courses that welcome and serve our student musicians’ wide range of interests and abilities.
Active and spirited engagement in music is at the core of the St. Anne’s-Belfield School’s music department. Whether on stage or in the classroom, students in Pre-School through the Upper School are provided with the opportunity to develop all facets of their musicianship in a supportive, open, and creative environment.
While some students may start as early as fourth grade, in fifth grade, all students enter into our string program. This is mirrored by a move to a choral curriculum beginning in sixth grade. Students may choose to continue studying instrumental or choral music through membership in one or more of our five instrumental ensembles and five choral ensembles in the Middle and Upper Schools. We are also one of the few Upper Schools in the Charlottesville area to offer our students the opportunity to take classes in Music Theory at the high school level.
Our dedicated faculty work closely together to provide students with a meaningful and engaging musical experience at every level of instruction. We hope you will explore our website in order to learn more about all that the St. Anne’s-Belfield School Music Department has to offer.
