Beginning in Pre-School and continuing through the fourth grade, Lower School students explore and question their world in an intimate educational environment where teachers know them as individual children and learners.
The Two-Year-Old Program, the Pre-School for three and four year old children and the Junior Kindergarten comprise the St. Anne’s-Belfield Pre-School Program. Although they are part of the Lower School, these classes are located in the Pre-School building – an inviting new facility constructed specifically to meet the needs of our youngest learners. Caring, nurturing teachers support the children as they begin their educational journey in this vibrant, child-centered atmosphere. In Grades K-4, children enjoy the challenges of an exciting program that encourages curiosity, teaches basic skills and nurtures each child's academic, creative, and social growth. The dedicated professionals who make up the Lower School faculty inspire the habits of lifelong learning within a caring, respectful and loving community. Students develop the confidence that comes from the accomplishments of hard work and the contentment of spirited play.
Lower School children (Grades K-4) learn: reading/ language arts, mathematics, science, history/geography and Spanish. In addition to these core subjects, students also receive instruction in visual art, performing art, library/media, and physical education. A weekly chapel service, assemblies, extra-curricular clubs, and field trips complement the schedule.
