The Theatre Arts and Music Departments of St. Anne's-Belfield School are proud to present the winter musical production of The King and I.  This beloved musical by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II will be performed February 22-24, 2013.

Based upon the true story of an English schoolteacher hired by the King of Siam to help modernize his country, the musical follows the relationship between the schoolteacher, Anna Leonowens, and the King, revealing their growing respect, acceptance, and love for one another. The not-to-be-missed production promises spectacle in the form of set and costume design, choreography, and beautiful music.

The STAB production features seniors Courtney Sanders as Anna and Evan Moore-Coll as the King of Siam. The Jerome Robbins' ballet within the play, "The Small House of Uncle Thomas," features junior Katherine Li and sophomore Cary Jones, along with many other talented dancers. Additional principle characters include Jacob Lourie '18 (Louis Leonowens), Nikkita Briones '13 (Tuptim), Blake Thatcher '13 (Lun Tha), Brielle Costello '15 (Lady Thiang), Dustin Jones '13 (Sir Edward Ramsey), and Griffin Farrell '15 (The Kralahome).  Numerous Upper and Middle School actors, as well as several Lower School students, will appear in the performance. 

Performances will be held on Friday, February 22 and Saturday, February 23 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, February 24 at 2:00 p.m. on the Greenway Rise Campus (2132 Ivy Road), in Randolph Hall Auditorium.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students. The final dress rehearsal on Thursday, February 21 at 7:00 p.m. is free and open to the public, though contributions to a specified charity will happily be accepted.
