St. Anne's-Belfield School Receives First VirginiaSAVES Award

Charlottesville, Va., April 11, 2016 – St. Anne’s-Belfield School has received the first award of VirginiaSAVES, a new program designed to reduce the cost of qualified energy efficiency projects and provide low- or no-cost long term financing. The School has engaged  Southland Energy, a division of Southland Industries, to carry out a series of upgrades and replacements for the completely self-funding project, which aims to reduce the School’s carbon footprint by 28 percent.

“Leveraging the state program, VirginiaSAVES, to help St. Anne’s-Belfield improve its education environment through energy efficiency is an exciting effort for Southland Energy. We look forward to helping them reduce their carbon footprint,” stated Vice President of Southland Energy Natasha Shah.

Southland Energy will be replacing aging and inefficient systems and equipment for dorms, classrooms, offices, and athletic facilities. The project scope includes boiler, chiller, and fan coil unit replacements, controls upgrades and integration, lighting upgrades, as well as the addition of high efficiency pumps, motors, and variable frequency drives.

The project is currently underway and anticipated completion is June of 2016.
