Renaissance Reader Program
Launched in the fall of 2008
With the primary goal of motivating students to develop reading habits that will produce intellectual growth, St. Anne’s-Belfield’s new Renaissance Reading program is off to an amazing start, with nearly 40 faculty members sponsoring over 70 books. Under the program, faculty members select and sponsor titles, offering students an opportunity to read works they have not been exposed to in the classroom, and to discuss those books with a faculty member outside of the boundaries of the classroom. This discussion gives faculty members and students alike a forum in which they may discuss the work in a collegial atmosphere while exploring the quality, the significance, and the implications of the sponsored work. Those students who have read a minimum of five sponsored titles by the end of the academic year will be named “Renaissance Readers” and on Class Night will receive a certificate noting this accomplishment.
